It’s a Hollywood-produced movie, folks. They can auto-tune Swift if they absolutely have to (wouldn’t that be a fun twist). It’s the acting part that might be of concern.
Also? It’s a Hollywood-produced movie, folks! It’s not necessarily going to be true to the Broadway production and will not, in any way, satisfy your Colm-Wilkinson-fawning Broadway snobbery. (I honestly hate vibrato, vocal or instrumental.)
Confession: I fell in love with the musical through my old copy of the Complete Symphonic Recording featuring Gary Morris as Jean Valjean and can barely watch 15 minutes of the 10th anniversary production.
I was also very disappointed in the 1998 dramatic version, which others also seem to like. I prefer the book, myself.
